Gosh, it took me a looong time to finish all of that. In fact, I still might change it a bit. I'm going to start making short books that take place in Endthriale. Each book will be the story of a different person or group and their adventures in Endthriale, though some will be sequels and feature the same characters.
I like it man. Needs a bit of polishing of course. I created my own almost two decades ago and I am trying to revisit it. Suggestions I would give you is to maybe not compare our world with yours. Just talk about your world. ;-) No need to compare to Earth. The orders for humans names could use a bit more imagination. Too many types of Golem imo. ;-) Also if you are going to have one for each element it would be nice to know what the elements are in the lore and ethos of this world. I like the Sirens concept. Maybe not the seeds part but its a cool concept. A reason why the Sea ones are more dangerous than the Deep ones could be expanded and their different diets. Instead of seeds you could have the males being the ones that coax corals into the shapes of their cities. Time lines should be from the reckoning of races not beginning of time I think. You could also come up with a better reason with Reifaz is more powerful than the other gods...
But overall I like it a lot... Well done man. Also good to see someone writing and fleshing out worlds... Would love to create a character to interact in your world...
Thanks for the feedback! It is very much appreciated.
To answer some of your questions... Elements in Endthriale are pretty much any type of chemical compound or collection of specific atoms that have special properties. Like the four elements everyone knows (fire, water, earth, and air), as well as other things such as ice, magma, leaves/grass (which is called Nature, and includes all plants), metal, or - like I said - any chemical compound or collection of specific atoms.
Also I tried to make the Sirens weird purposefully. Like I said in my "Message from the Writer", I'm basing this somewhat heavily off of Dwarf Fortress and Greek mythology. Both of those things contain some really weird crap. So the seeds are a way to make it weirder. If you have any idea how people with giant fish tails over their legs could reproduce sexually, please share.
I feel like I need to compare Endthriale to Earth so that people can understand it better, but I'll try to squeeze as much about Earth out of the guide.
About the thing with Reifaz, yeah... I thought it was pretty lackluster too, and am kind of regretting posting the guide with out fixing some of that stuff. But then again, I'm posting this here to rough out the edges.
Thank you again, Deus. I'll try to make it better than ever.
(Also, in case you're wondering, I haven't lost interest NMS. I still play it, albeit not very often, but still thoroughly enjoy it, especially after the Atlas Rises update.)
Do you hear that? It's a whisper. Not just any whisper, But a plagued whisper. You may not hear it anymore, But it's there. It's always there.
Far away from Euclid, there is a galaxy ruled by one force. This galaxy is the Rihulersi Galaxy, and its citizens are under constant fear of the most horrible deaths imaginable. Slow, painful deaths caused by genetically engineered diseases that can eat away at your flesh, while you have no hope of survival. If you speak up against the government, you could be infected. You would never know, but it's there. Like a whisper, softly floating through the air, then seemingly gone. You could infect your friends, your loved ones, and they would be devoured alongside you. This terrifying power is how the government continues to rule; with these plagued whispers.
This government has mastered bio-engineering, and has created thousands of diseases, some just for show. Whenever someone speaks up, or starts a rebellion, the government simply lets loose a prisoner whom they have infected with a seemingly random disease into the vicinity of the rebels and/or non-loyals. Once the population knew they could not defeat the awesome power of their overlords, most accepted their fates, but still lived in fear of somehow upsetting their leaders, or getting a disease from someone else who had angered the leaders.
Even though the citizens of the Rihulersi Galaxy are all aware of their government's greed and power hungriness, the government still uses the guise of simply following their twisted religion. The government is supposed to be a religious government, worshiping a deity named Susulues, who supposedly created the universe for the sole reason of seeing it tormented.
In their mythology, Susulues created the universe, but could not make direct contact with it. So he summoned one of his servants who had a strange and unique ability. His servant's name was Plag, and he could create different types of small beings that lived inside other's bodies, and made them miserable. Susulues ordered Plag to create millions of these small beings, and to infect several of each sentient species with a different kind. He wanted to see them spread, and watch as the mortals run in fear of the epidemics. Though, something that Susulues did not know about Plag's power was that the things he could create were like demigods, and Plag planned to eventually create so many that they could overthrow Susulues. Susulues, though, had discovered Plag's plan, and with just a single thought, Plag had died. Plag woke up in a dark, damp cell and found himself infected with every disease he had created. There he sat, for all eternity. Never dying, always in pain. The diseases had heard of this, and every single one had swore their loyalty to Susulues. Susulues, after millions of years, had finally mastered Plag's ability. By the time this had happened, nigh all of the diseases had either killed all of their carriers, or had been cured. Thus, Susulues sent a new wave of trillions of diseases throughout the infinite amounts of galaxies. Although the leaders know this, they still continue to create their own diseases to use, and try to "please" Susulues.
To prevent the people from thinking the government had forgotten all of its religion, the government put in place several laws and practices that kept the citizens thinking it was still a religious government, even though most of the officials now only use it as a guise. Some of the laws and practices include these: The curing of diseases is outlawed. Every Raltziq (roughly 8 earth days), a new disease is released to a random part of the galaxy, to please Susulues. Members of the church of Susulues start out as Minors, who are mainly servants to the higher-ups, but in time become Prophets, who go throughout the galaxy telling people about the might of Susulues. Once Prophets have become well known enough, they become Priests and stay in the main cathedral, called the Cathedral of Insight, where they study, theorize, and teach groups of people about Susulues. Usually, that's all there is to a Priest's life. But, there is one called the High Priest, who can supposedly talk to Susulues himself, and holds answers to every question one can ask. The High Priest is the highest one can get in their government and religion, thus there can only be one at a time. The High Priest can be any age, but the only time a new Priest is chosen to become the next High Priest is when the previous High Priest dies.
This was but one of the many tales of the Unknown...
OK, so powerful openings aside, I'd like to say a bit more of what this series of stories will be. Most of these will be short stories of someone or a group of people on their journeys through space. Or it may be a story of an ancient race, or maybe the story of a town or colony, or anything really. What I'm trying to say is: These will be short stories that can be about anything. Here's a list of things I might make stories about: One person | A group of people | A town/colony/city | An entire race | An event | A building | A group/organization | An object | A planet Some of the stories will be in different formats. Some may be written like a conventional story while others may be written like a journal, etc.
Going based off of my experience i've had a less than stellar time on ****** All I've received are complaints about how my stuff makes no sense and how i should just die. but being the awesome bloke I am I excused myself permanently from the site.
It's fine to dislike something but to outright shun people from doing something that relates to it is another.
Though I won't blame the owners for this as it seems to be the uptight communities that are built there. I occasionally go on to read about something if I can't access the information anywhere else but otherwise I avoid it as if it were toxic waste.
I'm sorry to hear that. Luckily you have multitudes of friends here! green_alien_smile
So, I've decided that for now I will end Illsent's/Zendichez' story. Just know he was accepted and rose through the ranks, and eventually became the Master Artificer of the Black Finger Lodge. I want to start a new short story about the ancient lore of NMS, that will be set in an alternate universe. I might start within the week, but who knows? (By the way, it won't be real lore; just fan lore that I think would be interesting to write and probably to read as well.)
Zendichez was in a bar; drinking away his sorrows.
"Another one." He told the waitress. He was close to passing out, before his old, Gek friend Lermin found him. He walked over to Zendichez and sat down.
"I heard about your faction." Lermin said. "It must be terrible; having everything you know being blown up, and not even knowing why." Lermin said this, not knowing if Zendichez could even hear him. Much less is listening. Zendichez looked up, straight into Lermin's eyes, and in a low, drunken voice said:
"I'mma get revenge...", burped, and continued: "They're gonna wish they never messed with me..."
After several months of gathering information on The Armada, Zendichez was ready to begin his plan. It started with joining the Black Finger Lodge, and do what ever is necessary to become a high rank. He then would plant evil rumors, and secretly sabotage The Armada in other ways. He knew that to do this, he must change everything about him. He had contacts throughout the galaxy, and even several in other galaxies, and a couple of them could do what he wished. He changed his name to Illsent Jacal, he changed his appearance to look more rugged and fierce, he changed his voice to a deeper, more intimidating voice, and was even able to change his personality via new, rarely tested technology. He now looked, sounded and acted much more like a pirate. The only thing that could prevent him from being accepted into the Black Finger Lodge was his DNA, because Jurididonians extremely rarely become pirates, so it may be suspicious that one wants to join the pirate faction that somewhat recently destroyed a faction owned and operated by a Jurididonian.
Zendichez headed toward The Armada's last known location, seeking acceptance into the Black Finger Lodge...
nice intro, Illsent, Is Zendichez going to leave the star system? or stay and plot revenge? It would be cool if we could actually build underground in game.
(I guess you could call this a spoiler, but it's not like this is a blockbuster movie or anything:) He's gonna try to infiltrate The Armada and destroy it from the inside. I'll probably continue the story later today.
I wish I could post a picture from the ps4 to here, have one of an avatar I was using, his ship parking right on top of another one. One of those trading posts with one platform only. Would have loved to have had the combined ship,as a REAL ship, extra engines !!!
