I know I'm not the only one with a lot of interest in virtual photography in NMS, screenshotting and sharing interesting creatures and vistas. Thought I'd start a thread for those of us who like to take pics IRL, for real landscape shots.
Here are some of mine, all taken within a few hours of where I live here in the mountains of NC. One waterfall shot, autumn shot a few down, was right over the border in TN. Not great quality, my most recent camera is just a Nikon Coolpix L830. I just enjoy going out and taking shots and enjoying the outdoors. My only bragging right I guess is that a shot of mine ended up on the cover of a local Chamber of Commerce's brochure... without my knowing it! I walk into a gas station, and on the rack of brochures see one and am like, "Wait a minute... that sure looks familiar... hey, that's Dan standing there! I took that!!" (I don't mind that they did it, but they should have asked, could have provided a higher res version of it, since the one on my site was shrunk.)
Of course, unlike NMS, most of the stuff here will have countless thousands of shots of it out there already! Many times with my shots I have to wait some time to get everyone out of the picture; many of these places get very crowded, never feel too alone out there (unfortunately!).
Well, this is wildlife and not landscape, but finally got a fox to pose. I usually just see them at night, and even then, they tend to hightail it out of there at the slightest movement or sound. And a couple more flower shots.
I laughed when I saw where Grant tweeted about taking pictures of rocks. I do that all the time but for different reasons. I'm into rockhounding/gem mining and have had people remark on all the photos in my albums of rocks in my hand.
Waterfall shots from the other day, but not much water! Pretty dry last few months here. That first place is a pretty good swimming hole actually, had we not been taking some of my family on a tour I might have jumped in for awhile!
